NAIOP Launches 56th Chapter in New York City, September 16, 2008
New York, N.Y. – The National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) today announced that it has established its 56th chapter in New York City, meeting the needs of a growing commercial real estate market and bringing its total of chapters in New York to three, along with the Upstate New York chapter and the NYC/Westchester/Fairfield Co. chapter.

“We are pleased to add this new chapter that will serve commercial real estate developers, owners, investors and more in New York City,” said Thomas J. Bisacquino, NAIOP president. “New York City has a thriving commercial real estate community, with each region of the state having its own needs. Now, industrial, office and mixed-use development professionals in New York City have an organization behind them to represent their interests and provide them with a collective voice.”

Richard Lechtman, president, Ackman-Ziff Real Estate, has been named president of the New York City chapter by his peers. “I’m thrilled to be a part of this new chapter. I think that the formation of the New York City chapter of NAIOP will benefit commercial real estate professionals in this area in a number of very positive ways,” he said.

The officers and committee members heading-up NAIOP’s new New York City chapter represent some of the region’s foremost commercial real estate firms, including President-Elect, Joseph Tufariello, Ackman-Ziff Real Estate; Secretary, Donald Hodson, Langan Engineering, PC; Treasurer, Diane Marino-Eiler, Guardian Life Insurance; and Government Affairs Chair, Philip Hochstein, CAPS Interactive Corporation.

NAIOP is a national association of more than 17,500 members with an extensive network of 56 chapters across the United States and Canada that represent the interests of developers and owners of industrial, office and related commercial real estate. NAIOP provides communication, networking and business opportunities for all real estate related professionals; provides a forum for continuing education; and promotes effective public policy, through its grassroots network, to create, protect and enhance property values.

Those interested in joining NAIOP’s New York City chapter can visit www.naiop.org and select “Become a Member” on the left-hand menu to fill out an online application. Membership in both the national and local NAIOP chapter is required. Dues are decided upon by each chapter, in addition to national dues.
