NAIOP Ends Year with Record High Membership, January 8, 2008
Washington, D.C. – The National Association
of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), the nation’s
leading trade association for developers, owners, investors, asset
managers and other professionals in industrial, office and
mixed-use commercial real estate, ended 2007 on a high note with
more than 16,500 individuals from 5,800-plus companies identifying
themselves as members. The record setting membership includes more
than 3,700 people joining in 2007 alone, increasing membership by
14 percent from 2006. NAIOP also launched new chapters in Southwest
Florida and Indianapolis to accommodate growing interest around the
country.
“We are extremely pleased that the industry has recognized NAIOP as the preeminent source of information regarding commercial real estate and want to take advantage of the resources and tools we have to offer,” said NAIOP President Thomas J. Bisacquino. “NAIOP provides first-rate programming, foresight of trends and influential lobbying efforts, protecting our members’ interests on Capitol Hill, in state houses across the country and in three Canadian provinces. Our board and staff work hard to ensure that our members’ expectations are not only met, but also exceeded on a continual basis.”
Among NAIOP’s fastest rising population is the Developing Leaders category for those 35 and younger. The 1,290 members in this segment have spurred the growth of the Developing Leaders program, including an online resource center with news feeds and message boards, and two new National Forums, special interest groups for NAIOP members that present them the opportunity for exclusive networking and experience exchange with their peers.
“NAIOP’s extraordinary growth can be attributed to our members’ desire for networking and education,” said Marc Selvitelli, CAE, NAIOP vice president for membership and chapter relations. “We are confident that we consistently satisfy this need with innovative programming at the local and national levels, allowing members to learn from experts, as well as each other.”
In 2007, NAIOP introduced Webinars, a series of live Web-based seminars, to its educational offerings in addition to conferences, retreats and various courses on commercial real estate. The association also established a green development policy statement and developed new resources to serve as a guide for green development. NAIOP’s Green REsource Center can be found online at www.naiop.org/resourcecenter/gr.cfm.
“We are looking forward to surpassing our membership numbers and our members’ expectations in 2008,” Bisacquino said. “We are particularly excited to offer DevelopGREEN: Sustainable Solutions for Commercial Real Estate, NAIOP's inaugural conference focusing solely on sustainable development, as well as the outstanding educational and networking opportunities that our members anticipate each year.”
